Victoria Batey Doucette went to be with her Lord and Savior on September 16, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on September 12, 1955, she grew up in Hampden, the daughter of Kenneth W. Batey and Bernadette Martin Batey. She resided in Bucksport with her loving husband Stephen.
Victoria worked in electronics for 15 years as a wirer-soldierer. Most recently she worked as a CRMA/PSS at Jed Proudy's Residential Care Home, in Bucksport. She loved her residents and her true compassion created a wonderful bond with each one.
Victoria loved the outdoors. She and her husband created multiple perennial gardens and loved working with field stones. She loved photography and had many wild subjects show up for a photo shoot in her back yard. For three years she and her husband enjoyed summers camping on Pushaw Pond.
Victoria began her spiritual journey with the Lord while in her late 20s. She has written poetry, which pretty much sums up her life and love during her journey. Victoria loved her church family, Nealley's Corner, in Hampden. It is a small church, with a huge loving heart, one that truly walks the walk of our Lord in helping one another.
Victoria enjoyed delivering Meals on Wheels to area shut-ins for ten years. She also loved traveling to the Global Aid Network Distribution Warehouse with her church group to volunteer a week of packing aid and seeds to go to other countries. She was also on the committee to bring Meals from Maine to Bangor for two years, where hundreds gathered to mix ingredients and package them into highly nutritious meals for the starving overseas, through the Feed My Starving Children organization.
Victoria was predeceased by her father, Kenneth, mother, Bernadette, sister, Lucretia Schirago, and son Jeremy Bean. Victoria is survived by her loving husband, Stephen; mother in-law, Irene Doucette; brother in-law, Wayne Doucette of Everett, WA.; one niece, Terri Plensky, of Washington State and one nephew, Kenneth Edwards of California. Victoria also leaves four stepchildren, Kevin Bean and family of Brewer; Terry Bean and family, of Otis, ME, Stephanie Baker and family of Fairfax, VA; and Erin Brown and family of Bucksport, ME; several cousins; ten step-grandchildren and one step-great grandchild.
Our deepest gratitude to the staff of the Layfatte's Cancer Care of Maine and New Hope Hospice for their excellent care during Vicky's illness.
A memorial service will be held at Nealley's Corner Church on Kennebec Road in Hampden followed by refreshments on September 22, 2015 at 1:00.
