BREWER – Vivian Mary (Gallant) Henderson, 93, died peacefully on March 3, 2023, at Westgate Center with family by her side. She was born December 8, 1929 in Bradley, daughter of Andrew and Adelaide (Moreau) Gallant.
Vivian graduated from John Bapst High School in 1947 and worked at W.T. Grant and then Nickerson & O’Day until her retirement. She married Frank D. Henderson on October 23, 1951 and they resided in Brewer. Mom spent many years at the Ellen M. Leach Home in Brewer, where she enjoyed bingo, cards on Tuesday and gathering in the lobby with “The Girls”.
She is survived by her children, Susan Collins and husband, Robert, of North Port, FL, Michael Henderson, of Brewer and Michele Rowles and husband, Darryl of Brewer, and sister, Valerie Buchanan of Bradley. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren; Melissa McEwen, Mark McEwen, Susan Bennett, Tracey Sparagis, Nicole Tucker, Kellee Murphy, Jessica Dwyer and Michael Rowles and 9 great-grandchildren; Olin and Larsen Walker, Chloe, Chase and Luke McEwen, Emma and Eli Bennett, Jackson Tucker, Finley Dwyer; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Frank, brothers, Andrew, Leon and Paul Gallant; and sisters, Lucy Tremblay and Theresa Cote.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the staff at Westgate and St. Joseph Homecare & Hospice for the wonderful and compassionate care they gave to Mom. A special thank you to Josh and Sue Lee at Westgate for the many hours of Bingo that she so loved to play and Christine at St. Joseph Hospice for her care and support in her final days.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 531 North Main Street, Brewer, ME 04412. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments in the parish hall immediately following the Mass.
