Waldena H. Pond Jr., 75, went home to the Lord and his late wife, Nettie, on January 16, 2024. He passed away peacefully at his home in Levant, surrounded by family.
Waldena was born in Bangor on September 30, 1948, the son of Waldena Sr. and Irene (Goslin) Pond. After graduation, he joined the Army and served his country in the Vietnam War. Once he returned home, he became employed by James River Corporation for several years before an injury forced him into retirement.
In addition to his parents and wife, Waldena was predeceased by stepsons, Leslie and Willy Bragg; and great-grandson, William. He is survived by daughter, Denise Pond; son, Toby Pond; sisters, Nancy Soucier and Paula Pond, both of Old Town; brother, Gordon Pond and wife, Denise, of Hermon; seven grandchildren, Heidi McComb and partner, Chris, of Levant, Heather Witham and husband, Andy, of Carmel, Desiree Guptill of Carmel, Joshua Pond and fiancé, Abby, of South Berwick, Amanda Bragg and partner, Chad, of Birch Harbor, Ashley Bragg of Ellsworth, and Jessica Boober of Howland; great-grandchildren, Tyler and partner, Ashley, Cassandra and partner, Jeremiah, Austin, Evan, Owen, Madison, Cameron, Silas, Brianna, Charlie, Walter and Matthew; and great-great-grandchild, Grayson, whom he did not get the pleasure to meet; several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to friends Pee Wee and Wanda, and a great friend, Lloyd, who spent hours hanging out at the airport and eating lunch with Waldena, as well as his church family at the Carmel Full Gospel Church of Restoration.
Graveside funeral services will be held 2pm, Sunday, June 9, 2024 at Waugh Cemetery, Levant.
