WENDY M. COLE
HERMON – Wendy M. Cole, 71 passed away February 15, 2020 at a Bangor hospital supported by her family.
She was born September 1,1948 in Greenville, Maine, the daughter of Hanford Hartley Canders and Vera (Leet) Canders. Wendy graduated from Greenville High School class of 1966. She married her high school sweetheart, Stephen W. Cole in 1967. They would have celebrated 53 years of marriage in June.
Wendy concentrated on her roll as a homemaker in support of her family her entire life. The volunteer service Wendy was most proud of was her ten year career as a hospice care provider with New Hope Hospice. She became an accomplished quilter and member of Bear Paws Quilt Guild in Bangor as well as the St. Augustine Piecemakers Quilting Guild in Florida.
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by a sister, Bonnie Given, a great niece, Piper Moore, and beloved canine companion, Fern. Surviving in addition to her husband, Stephen, are her daughters Heidi (Cole) Guerette and husband Charles of Winthrop, Jillisa (Cole) Sekera of Bangor, five grandchildren, Walt Guerette, Mitchell Guerette, Anna Guerette, Gabrielle Sekera and Eliot Sekera, a sister Vicky Canders of Greenville, nephew Hartley Given and his wife Sherri and their daughter Kassidy of Huddleston, VA, and niece Amanda (Given) Moore of Bedford, VA.
Relatives and friends are welcome to call 5-7 pm Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at Brookings Smith 133 Center Street, Bangor, where a memorial service will be held 10 am Thursday February 20, 2020. Interment will be in Greenville, Me in the spring. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings Smith 163 Center Street, following the memorial service. Per Wendy’s request, ABSOLUTELY NO FLOWERS. Because advances in cancer research and treatment allowed Wendy extended time with family and friends, those who wish to remember her in a special way may make gifts in her memory to Challenge the Cure, C/O Northern Light Health Foundation, P.O.
