Wesley C. Beane
HAMPDEN – Wesley Chester Beane, 94, died peacefully in his home, on September 22, 2024, surrounded by family. He was born in South Paris, Maine, on July 10, 1930, to parents Durwood and Ruby (Lane) Bean. Upon graduation from Paris High School in 1949, Wesley joined the United States Air Force and served in the Korean War. After his discharge, he returned to Maine and worked for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as an electronics technician in Millinocket and then Bangor until he retired in 1988. Never one to sit idle, he then worked for Raytheon for several years, followed by various part-time jobs. He was an avid runner into his 70s, animal lover, and hobby woodworker, crafting multiple pieces of furniture for his family members. He was generous and kind-hearted, with a dry sense of humor and beloved by all who met him.
Wesley was predeceased by his parents, siblings Carlene Lambert and Bruce Bean, wife Mildred (Higgins) Beane, and grandson Jeremy Beane. He is survived by sons Royce and his wife Norma, Ray and his wife Donna, and Jeff and his wife Janice; daughters Beth Fitzgerald and husband Branden, and Julie Beane; grandchildren Jessica, Matthew, Jocelyn, Doris, Robbie, Joseph, Janna, Ashley, Aaron, Blake, Maddie, and Ruby; great-grandchildren Connor, Anna, and Isabelle; and a very special niece, Janet Feero.
Many thanks to all those who took care of Wesley for the last year: Visting Angels, Maine Veterans Home, and St. Joseph’s Home Care. A special thank you to Norma Beane for putting her life on hold to take care of him.
