Wilbur E. Baird III, 34, died unexpectedly January 5, 2016. He was born June 28, 1981, in Bangor the son of Wilbur Edgar and Deborah Lynn (Pratt) Baird, Jr.

Willy graduated from Bangor High School, Class of 2000. Willy enjoyed sports earning varsity letters in football and baseball. In 2002 he joined the United States Marine Corps attaining the rank of Corporal while serving an overseas tour in Okinawa and earning many decorations including the Global War on Terrorism Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, and the Good Conduct Medal. After his discharge from the Marines, Willy worked in the construction industry, most recently for N.S. Giles. Willy was a proud uncle of 3 beautiful nieces, Brookelyn, Serenity, and Arianna; and his one and only nephew, Kaiden. Willy was known for his contagious smile and gentle heart. He will always be remembered for his love of family, friends, sports, and the fact that he "loved tacos way too much."

Willy was predeceased by his uncle, Blaine Pratt; and cousin, Tarsha Hall. He is survived by his father, Wilbur E. Baird, Jr of Belfast; his mother, Debbie Baird and her partner Neil Lord of Bangor; his sisters, Kasey Schmersal and husband Justin of Bangor, Krystal Wyman and husband David of Bangor; his nieces and nephew; grandparents Doug and Sandra Pratt of Bangor, and Evelyn and Wilbur Baird Sr. of Belfast; and many other aunts, uncles, and cousins. Willy enjoyed a special relationship with his grandfather Pratt, known as Pa, "I look up to him so much. I wish I could be half the man he is"-Willy. Willy will be fondly missed by his family and his large group of friends, particularly Rob Bastey, Travis Brooker, Jeffers Ashley, and Paul Edwards, who provided extra support during his hardest times.

Relatives and friends are welcome to call 3-6pm Friday, January 15, 2016 Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St, Bangor followed by a celebration of life, beginning at 6:30pm at the Elks Lodge, 108 Odlin Rd, Bangor. Interment will be 2pm Tuesday, January 19, 21016 at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 163 Mt. Vernon Rd., Augusta.
