William Hannon

November 15, 1936 — February 13, 2023

William “Bill” H. Hannon, 86, passed away February 13th, 2023. He was born November 15th, 1936, in St. Stephen, New Brunswick, the son of Kenneth and Ruth (Pomeroy) Hannon.
Bill graduated from Little Ridge School, and went on to graduate from Fredericton Agricultural College in 1954. In 1961, he moved to Bangor and married Ruth Dewar. They spent 61 years together. He worked different jobs over the years including, managing Grant’s Texaco, working at Grant’s Dairy, driving transport for Eastern Fine Paper, and from 1968-1988, was a firefighter for the City of Bangor. In his retirement he worked for himself doing painting and repair work and in 1997 opened the Old Town Dairy Queen. When he wasn’t working he enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, snowmobiling and camping. He was very proud to have worked on the last 2 river log drives that took place on the St. Croix River in 1962.
In addition to his wife, Ruth, he is survived by his children; daughter, Bonnie Richards of Florida; son, Larry and his wife, Kathy Hannon of Milford; three grandchildren; Brandon and wife Amanda Richards of Florida; Justin and wife, April Richards of Alton; and Karina Hannon of Milford; his brother, Charles Hannon of Trenton, ON; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his siblings; sisters; Mary and Vera Hannon; and brother, Robert Hannon.
Graveside services will be held in his hometown in Canada at a later time.
