It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bill Masters, 67, of Veazie ME, who left this world on January 12, 2025. With his loved ones close by, he departed peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, hard work, and laughter that will forever be cherished by all who knew him.
Born on September 21st, 1957 in Weymouth, MA, Bill lived a life filled with purpose, dedication, and humor. A retired member of the Army National Guard, he served our country as a helicopter pilot for 22-years before embarking on a journey to support the Bangor community. Bill had a passion for Bangor’s historic buildings, helping renovate the Lowder hotel, Larkin Street School building, among several others. Bill was happy to lend a hand; many summers you could find Bill volunteering his time with Bangor East Little League and on Maine’s harshest winter days he would be in his pick-up plowing neighbor’s driveways. Those who knew Bill, are aware of his humor. He was quick with a joke and took joy in making everyone smile. Bill spent years playing slow pitch softball at Union Street Fields and was a regular, alongside his best pal, Cliff Wilbur, at Bangor Municipal Golf Course, making a hole-in-one in 2023.
Above all, Bill was a family man. He cherished family gatherings and attending his children’s sporting events. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Alyce Thomas Masters, whom he met while working on her family farm. His three children, Cameron, Riley, and Angelyn filled him with pride and introduced beautiful in-laws to his family; Erica Masters, Sara Sutherland, and Jake Orsborn. Bill’s lone grandchild, Parker Jean, lifted his spirits. His siblings, Alayna Jeffrey, Daniel Masters, Christine Webster, and Patrick Masters were his close friends. Bill’s mother, Louise Masters, was his inspiration and provided him with strength and stability throughout his life. His family, all of his cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends will miss his jokes and witty remarks at family gatherings. Bill is preceded in death by his brother, Stephen and his father, Robert.
May Bill’s spirit live on through his family and the impact he made on our community. As we say goodbye to William Anthony Masters, may we never forget his loving spirit and rolodex of jokes.
