William Pozzy

October 16, 1933 — August 18, 2022

William “Bill” S. Pozzy, 88, passed away on August 18, 2022, at a Bangor hospital. He was born October 16, 1933, in Bangor the son of Theo J. and Dorothy E. (Sawyer) Pozzy.

Bill graduated from the Bangor High School in the Class of 1952. He then went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army. Bill was the President and Owner of DownEast Associates building many facilities over Eastern Maine. He enjoyed playing golf and tennis. Bill and Buttons enjoyed working together in their amazing flower gardens. He enjoyed times with the family at Sandy Bay Camp on Moosehead Lake. Bill was an avid reader and enjoyed Crossword Puzzles.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Dorothy “Buttons” (McDonald) Pozzy; children; Peter Pozzy of Florida, Jeff Pozzy and wife Amy of Newburgh, Lee Pozzy of Newburgh, and Mike Pozzy of Florida; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his siblings, Peter Pozzy and Patricia Carlisle.

A graveside funeral gathering will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 24, 2023, at Mt. Hope Cemetery, 1048 State Street, Bangor. Relatives and friends are invited to meet 10:30 AM at the Superintendents Lodge, State Street Entrance, Bangor. Condolences to the family may be expressed at BrookingsSmith.com.
