WINTERPORT- William C. Ryerson, 71, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on February 7, 2023, at a Bangor hospital. He was born April 17, 1951, in Lewiston, the son of Carlton and Frances (Dyer) Ryerson.
Bill attended Oxford Hills HS and then served in the U.S. Army from March 1969 – January 1972. Civilian life provided Bill the opportunity to experience many forms of employment in the construction and trade industries, where he met and formed many friendships along the way. Also at this time, he married Gail Bordner and together their family grew with the arrival of daughters Kimberly and Kerry.
Bill is survived by daughters, Kimberly Ryerson and grandson, Javon, Kerry (Erik) Mildon and grandchildren, Joshua and Kayla; brothers, Robert (Karla) Ryerson, David (Willa) Ryerson; sisters Sheila Ryerson, and Linda (Roy) Pelletier; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bill was predeceased by a sister, Wanda.
Bill enjoyed the second half of his life with his loving partner of 30 years, Karen Coffman, and her three children, who wholeheartedly considered him their stepdad – Amy (Coffman) Bowden, Steven and Jason Coffman. He enjoyed all the fun and chaos, continuing as grandchildren, Hunter and Jackson Bowden, arrived. He only wished that his health had enabled him to share the moments of watching the newest member of our family grow up, Hunter’s (Lilak) daughter, Nova. We will miss your unique humor, laughter and fun, but cherish forever the memories you brought to our family.
Earlier years found Bill fishing, golfing, and following all his favorite sports teams, but family time remained the most important throughout.
It should be no surprise to Bill’s friends that he wished for no goodbyes or formal services. Your friendship was enough. A spring memorial is planned for family at the Veteran’s Cemetery in Augusta, ME.
