Dedham – Willie G. Woodside, 56, went to be with the Lord September 15, 2021. He was born November 19, 1964, in Calais, to William and Jean (Crompton) Woodside.
Willie attended Calais schools where he graduated in 1983. In 1985, he moved to Bangor to pursue a career in sales, traveling to every part of the state. On April 5, 1986, his son, Christopher William, was born. Having more financial responsibility he joined Laborer’s Local 1377 where he worked until an accident in 1994 left him permanently disabled. Also, in 1994, he met his soulmate, Rose. On July 27, 1996, they were married and lived in East Corinth. In 1999, after their home was built, they moved to Dedham, where Willie resided until his death.
Willie was predeceased by his father, William; mother, Jean; brother-in-law, Jay Phelps; father-in-law, Larry Cushman; and two very good friends, Chucky Damon and Tommy Daniel.
He leaves behind his wife of 25 years, Rose Woodside, whom he loved dearly; son, Christopher William, who was his pride and joy; two step-children, Carrie Cushman and Jeffrey Blackwell who he raised as they were his own children.
Willie is survived by five sisters, Pam Ivey and husband, Roger, and their son, Tommy; Cindy Johnston and husband, Steve, and their daughter and son, Alex and Sammy; Linda Severance and husband, Larry and her son, Chad; Lisa Goodman and husband, Wes, and their son and daughter, Charles, Annabelle; and Angel Phelps; he is also survived by his mother-in-law, Carlene Cushman.
Willie also leaves behind his longtime friend, Tom Colpitts and wife, Lorraine, and her entire family, with whom he spent many special occasions celebrating. A particularly good friend, Harold Hodgdon who was always there to give Willie a helping hand. He leaves behind his friends from Calais, Phill Daggett, JR Gibson and Blaine Greenlaw, only to mention a few; his friends from Bangor, Rick Stevens, Bob Young, Mike Blanchard, and many more.
Willie enjoyed snowmobiling, four wheeling, bowling, watching sports, harness racing, UMO hockey and football games. For eighteen years, along with his friend, John Mavadones, Willie ran a football pool, where he met a lot of good people.
Willie had a few passions in life as well, one was drinking Budweiser beer. He also had a knack for gardening and always planted plenty so he could share some with his family and friends. He really enjoyed cooking and on Sundays always prepared a big meal for whoever happened to show up. Willie was an animal lover, and his canine companion, Cooper, and feline friend, Lotto, will miss him.
Willie was a member of the Brewer Eagles Club where he loved to go at 11:00 a.m to have his first cold one and watch “The Price is Right” with his breakfast buddies. He was also a member of the Bangor Elks Lodge, where he liked to go from time to time.
Relatives and friends are welcome to stop by and say fair well to Willie 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at the Brewer Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 55 South Main Street, Brewer, where a Funeral Liturgy Outside of Mass will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 22, 2021. Interment will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Bangor, immediately following the service. Following the burial there will be a celebration of Willie’s life at the Brewer Eagles Club. There will be refreshments and snacks so come by, have a drink and celebrate Willie’s life. His physical body may be gone, but his soul will live on.
