BANGOR – Winfield (Win) Charles Jordan, 86, passed away on March 27, 2014 at St Joseph’s Hospital in Bangor after a long struggle with heart disease. He was born on July 8, 1927 to Virgil Jordan and Emma (Ayers) Jordan.
He attended Old Town schools and after graduation, was a member of the United States Navy serving honorably with the 7th Fleet, in Leyte, Philippines during World War II. From his position at Pratt & Whitney in CT to owning Jordan Auto and Eastern Maine Auto Auction in Brewer, he was always looking to make mechanical equipment work more efficiently. He later served as a Master Mason in the Star-in-the-East Lodge. He was also president of the Lion’s Club of Ellsworth and a member of the Eagle’s Club in Brewer.
Win was an avid lover of aircraft and boating. He enjoyed flying friends and family to many destinations as well as leisurely floating down the Penobscot River on his boat. He also savored his time with loved ones at his home on Phillips Lake, Lucerne-In-Maine.
He is survived by a brother, Merle Jordan and wife, Linda of Weslaco, TX; sisters, Eloise Woytovich of Ashville, NC, Mildred Boelter and husband, Maynard of Weslaco, TX; son, Bruce Jordan and wife, Mary of North Reading, MA; daughters, Beverly Distinti and husband, Joseph of Clark Summit, PA, Lorraine Taylor of Glen Burnie, MD, Karen Collins and husband, Stanley of Holden and Cheryl Labriola of Middleborough, CT. Win was proud of his grandchildren, Brandon Taylor, Austin Taylor, Nicholas Collins, Leah Collins, Devon Meyers, Jordan Meyers, Richard Labriola and Royce Labriola. He is predeceased by his parents, Virgil and Emma Jordan, and his brother, Roland Jordan.
Relatives and friends are welcome to call 10 AM Wednesday April 2, 2014 at the East Orrington Congregational Church, 38 Johnson Mill Road, Orrington, where funeral services with military honors, will be held at 11 AM with Pastor Carl Schreiber officiating. A reception will immediately follow in the church fellowship hall. Interment will take place at a later date at Village Cemetery, Edinburg.
