Winifred “Winnie” Murphy, 91, passed away August 29, 2023, surrounded by her family, at Sylvia Ross Assisted Living.
She was born in Milo, September 6, 1931, the daughter of T. Douglas and Emma A. (Lockhart) Barker.
Winnie was a graduate of Milo High School class of 1948 and the Eastern Maine General Hospital School of nursing in 1953.
She was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Teresa’s Catholic Church, where she was an active member of the choir sharing her wonderful soprano voice.
Winnie was employed with Northern Light, EMMC until the age of 67.
She was predeceased by her husband, Francis J. Murphy in 2001 and a son, Patrick in 2010.
Surviving are her children, Martha Perkins of Brewer, Douglas (Anne) Murphy of Brewer, Donald (Evelyn) Murphy of Dedham, Teresa (Paul) Caron of Brewer, Ann (Kirk) Dinkheller of Louisville, GA., Helena (Darrell) Boutin of Saco, Michael (Ellen) Murphy of Holden; twelve grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; two sisters, Sandra Haley of Milo, Betty Robinson of Beaver Dams, N.Y.; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited to call 6 pm to 8 pm Tuesday September 5, 2023 at the Brewer Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 55 South Main St., Brewer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 am
Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Teresa’s Catholic Church, 425 So. Main St., Brewer.
The Rite of Committal will follow at Hart’s Corner Cemetery, Holden.
The family invites all to share conversation and refreshments in St. Teresa’s hall, following the services.
