Dear LaMarche family, I wanted to share a few words with all the LaMarche clan for the passing of Big Paul. We go back a very long way and Uncle Paul was a revelation for me as a young boy and throughout my life. Paul was my fathers best friend, a friend for 56 years. Two French Canadians who worked hard with an uncanny wisdom about Medicine and how to make healing a reality. I will not be able to be present for the Ceremonies this week and we all wish we could be with you guys to celebrate Pauls life and reminisce on all of the great times we have shared over the years. Paul and Genny were the first people who were not really related to us, but whose friendship and love transcended beyond a family ties. There was something so unique about Paul and how he dealt with life's challenges. He just never seemed to back down from anything. I always admired the way the LaMarche family dealt with conflict, often with an intensity that bordered on chaos, but never letting conflict bring on contempt. There is always another argument and another disagreement but that was OK. Paul diagnosed my Diabetes in 1982 and I always appreciated is straight forward attitude that you have a serious problem and you just have to go on and deal with it. No time to feel sorry for yourself. There was always a underlying 'can do' attitude about tackling the problem. I fondly remember the quote that Paul so often would recite Illegitime Non Carborundum.. 'Don't let the bastards wear you down'. Alas, Paul lived his life that way and I will always remember him as a teacher, not just about health, but about life! While he also had the French tempe, he also had a great sense of humor. I will never forget him telling me the story that he was afraid of falling for fear he would blow up with all the Nitroglycerin he was taking. Or the time we went out to the shooting range and Paul handed over Pauls 38 caliper Saturday Night Special just like a kid to George. We will all miss Paul dearly and we want you all to know that we miss you all too. The bonds of our families remain strong despite the distances between us and the time that has passed and our prayers are with you all in this time of grieving and loss. May his soul rest in Peace and may we celebrate his life and his spirit that will live on! Love, Jeff
