Obituary for Michelle W. McCreery

Michelle W. McCreery, 78, passed away October 26, 2016 at a Bangor Hospital. Michelle was born August 21, 1939 the only child to the late Michael Hyman and Beatrice (Baron). After her mother’s passing at age 11, she remained in her home another two years before moving in with her grandmother; she was happy to have her grandmother raise her. After receiving a Bachelors of Art degree, Michelle worked in a law firm for two years after college prior to becoming an employee at the Chamber of Commerce later achieving a CEO title in Fairfax, VA.
Michelle and her late husband, Harry, married in 1964 and decided they wanted to get away from the “rat race” so they then moved to Sullivan, ME. Michelle applied for many jobs throughout the area but was often found “over qualified.” She started her own business of needlework refinishing, completing projects that her clients never finished which brought her great joy until her retirement just two years ago. Michelle was predeceased by her husband, Harry in 2014, the two shared no children together. In her spare time, Michelle enjoyed crossword puzzles, knitting, crocheting, and also participating in sewing clubs. A memorial service will be held 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 14, 2017 at the Maine Veteran’s Home, 44 Hogan Road Bangor ME, 04401. Condolences may be expressed on Www.BrookingsSmith.com.
