Obituary for Daniel L. Carey Jr.

Daniel L. Carey Jr.
Dan Carey, 65, died March 22, 2018. He was born December 6, 1952 in Biddeford, Maine, son of Daniel Lawrence and Anne Teckla (Kolas) Carey.

Dan graduated from Biddeford High School, Class of 1971, and then attended University of Maine Orono. In 1973 he married his beloved wife, Paula Ann Paradis, settled in Bangor, and they started their family. Though she passed as a young mother, his love and adoration for her never waned.

Dan and Paula raised three children while Dan started his career at Pepsi Co in Brewer, where he dedicated himself for many years before beginning work at Bangor Savings Bank. Dan took great pride in his role as a Customer Solutions Specialist and had recently retired after 26 years with the BSB family. He was a positive influence on all his colleagues and customers. Dan avidly followed all New England sports teams, and could often be found enjoying the game with his second family at Hero’s in Bangor. He faithfully planned annual trips to Sea Dogs games for his friends and family, loved classic rock, and was a proud grandfather.

He was predeceased by his parents and wife. Surviving are his daughter, Jennifer Nichols and her husband, Greg, of Schnecksville, PA; son, Thomas Carey and his wife, Michelle, of Westbrook; son, Michael Carey and his wife, Alexandra, of Bangor; three grandsons, Kyle Nichols, Jacob Nichols, and Ryker Carey; sisters Ellen Carey and Fannie Hirst of Biddeford; and cherished extended family and friends.

Family and friends should feel welcome to call from 6-8 PM, Tues, Mar. 27 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center Street, Bangor. Funeral Prayers and the Rite of Committal will be prayed at Mt. Pleasant Catholic Cemetery at 11:30 AM, Wed, Mar 28. The family invites relatives and friends to share memories at Hero’s Sports Grill, 41 Washington St. following the interment. Those who wish to remember Dan in a special way are encouraged to support their community’s youth sports programs. Condolences may be expressed at BrookingsSmith.com.
