Saturdays with Sid

Dear Sid aka "Sid Vicious" (Don't ask why I called you that cause I'm really not sure...lol. All I know is that there is a former WWE wrestler named Sid Vicious, but you were definitely not like him...lol. I just called you it one day, and it stuck in my mind. You didn't seem to mind though, because you always responded with a witty reply and a smile.), Anyways, about my Saturdays with you at Nicky's... The very first thing that I have done every morning for many years now when I get to work at 6:30 am is to go thru the coupons, put them out back for Diana for when she gets in at 7, then find the crossword puzzle page and put it under the counter to save for you when you came in later (lots of times guarding it from some pesky people looking to get their hands on that section). I looked forward to the smile on your face when I handed it to you. Sometimes you even walked thru the door with pen in hand. It made me happy. You were one of the brightest people I ever met. Nancy and I loved helping you with the puzzle, especially if Al had gotten ahold of it first, and messed it up...lol. I even remember you/us being stuck on this one word, so I "cheated" and used Tiffany's smart phone to look it up. Remember a bauble is a "gegaw." Barbara used to call it you "winning" the puzzle. Also, I remember you correcting me when I used to say "Over" instead of "Across." You were so funny. I will miss those times. Everytime I look at a crossword puzzle, I think of you. And, I promise to try to say Across, instead of Over. You always had cool life stories to tell. I loved your behind-the-scene stories of the concerts you worked on. I liked hearing your opinions of bands that have changed their lead over the years. You always amazed me with your knowledge, and experiences. You made me laugh, especially with the way you said things sometimes. Must have been the tone in your voice. Just so down-to-Earth. I will miss your voice. I know you came to Nicky's on other days also, but Saturdays were my "Sid Day." I guess it's because you stayed a little longer drinking your coffee and working on the puzzle before ordering food. Sometimes just toast, sometimes a side of hash browns, sometimes ham and egg breakfast, and sometimes.....The Extravaganza...as you so named it...French Toast with a side of strawberries. Another thing I will never forget. Another thing I will miss about you. Your passing has affected many of us at Nicky's, staff and customers included. You will never be forgotten...a legend. So many loved and cared for you. I, personally, have a place in my heart that will hold my memories of you forever. No Saturday will ever be the same. I will miss you sooo much. My heartfelt sympathies go out to Kim. Thoughts and prayers for her. God bless. Sincerely, Bobbi p.s. The lols above were for literary purposes, and were typed though many tears were being shed.
