Bom-Wrapper

The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Debra Calderwood can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

My association with Debra was in my role as nursing instructor. Deb always went the extra mile to ensure that students had an excellent experience, whether at Bangor Mental Health Institute or at the Bangor Area Homeless Shelter. She loved to share her knowledge of psychiatric/mental health nursing and especially her expertise in dealing with the elderly, people with dementia, and people who were homeless. No matter how busy her day, she always found time to meet with the students and offer experiences that made a richer learning environment. In particular, she modeled what it meant to treat all people with dignity and respect. The students admired Deb and valued the time she gave them. I also noticed that her co-workers held her in the highest regard. When she was in charge of the unit they worked together in harmony. She was a wonderful blend of intelligence, common sense, and compassion.
